Couples Therapy
Couples Therapy
Relationships can feel confusing or frustrating when old patterns keep showing up. You might feel confused, alone, like “roommates” - you just know something has to give, and you’re willing to work on yourselves and your relationship.
In our sessions, we’ll slow things down, name the patterns, and learn skills for deeper clarity and connection.
I use the EFT model within my sessions and find it highly effective. My goal is not to keep a couple together, but rather to identify where your relationship needs to grow (together or apart) and help you get there.
I offer limited in person sessions in the evenings in Plymouth, MA, and daytime weekday sessions via telehealth.
-
One partner pushes (or “nags”) and the other retreats (or “shuts down”) - both find this dynamic exhausting
You’ve started living parallel lives (sleeping separately, barely spending time together, etc)
You love each other but have forgotten being in love, and at this point it feels too late to hope for that
You/ your partner are unsure about staying together, but want to try couples therapy first (or one last time) before deciding
…and more.
I do not work with these primary issues, but can provide referrals around:
Infidelity/ Betrayal Trauma
Sexual trauma/ issues (though intimacy may be addressed)
Open or uncommitted relationships (dating)
Co-parenting or custody counseling
-
My successful couples have these things in common:
Being willing to show up to the sessions and participate
Working individually and as a couple between sessions on various areas discussed within sessions
Maintaining mutual respect for one another
-
A facilitated space for you to have the same fights you have at home
Unaddressed substance misuse/ addictions
Secret-keeping that affects the relationship (infidelity or other)
Name calling, berating, yelling in session or at home
If something does arise and we are able to discuss it and create a plan moving forward, many times counseling can continue. However, if there is a significant stall in progress or abusive behavior that continues, counseling will cease until safety can be reestablished.

I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an approach centered on understanding our attachment styles—the unique ways we connect, seek safety, and build belonging with one another.
Joint Intake: We begin together in a shared session to map out where your relationship is right now and what you hope to rebuild.
Individual Sessions: Next, I meet with each partner one-on-one. This gives us space to explore your personal concerns, your unique patterns of connecting or pulling back, and any past wounds or triggers that may be surfacing in your dynamic.
Typically, the length of couples therapy depends on severity of need, but average is between 8 and 20 sessions.
-
Couples sessions begin with an intake appointment ($225) and are followed by weekly ($185/60 min) or biweekly ($200/75 min) sessions.
Due to the nature of the couples counseling, insurance cannot be billed for these sessions. I do not offer superbills (see the FAQs section for more information on why).
Limited sliding scale slots are available based on need.
